Up a Mountain / Down a Beer

Beer School Starts Today

Bristol Brewing LogoFor those of you in the Pikes Peak Region, Bristol Brewing is beginning their 10 week Beer school tonight. Classes will be each Monday from 6:00-8:00 PM.

The course begins with Beer 101: Intro to beer, continues with 200 level classes on different beer styles and finally 300 level classes dealing with Food and Beer, Home Drought Systems (i.e. Kegerator), Environmental issues and Beer Chemistry taught by Bristol’s own Microbiologist, Ken Andrews. Check this out for the full course catalog.

Tuition is $25 per session which includes classroom materials (beer tasting). Although, it isn’t specified how much classroom material is included with your tuition. You’ll just have to go and find out. The Food and Beer class on 1/28/08 also has a $10 lab fee, but should be worth it, as it is taught next door, in The Blue Star kitchen, by their executive chef, Jason Miller

You can go to only the classes you want to attend, but need to register with Laura at 719-633-2555×11 before hand. There will be a graduating class for those attending 6 or more sessions and you’ll receive your very own Diploma and Exclusive Beer School T-Shirt.

I don’t know if I’m dedicated enough to graduate, but I think I’ll go check out a class or 2. Let me know if your interested and maybe we can be BFF’s in Beer School!
