Up a Mountain / Down a Beer

Jack Quinn’s Running Club

quinns.bmpOK so very few things get me fired up any more but a sure fire way is to offer good beer and FREE food. And that is exactly what Jack Quinn’s Running Club offers!!! YEAH! Really this is a great deal. Jack Quinn’s is a Colorado Springs Irish pub that hosts a run every Tuesday @ 6pm. Get this it is free! You show up early and have a pint if you would like then set off on a 5K (3.1 mile) run at your own pace.

Upon completion you head upstairs and enjoy post run $2.50 Bristol pints and free food. This week was my first run and I was rewarded with fresh salad garlic bread and pasta! I also had one of the old timers (not in age but in experience, 43 runs completed!!) buy me a pint. MMM BEER!

The run is great and you go at your own pace, there was a variety in ability from the out of shape to the elite runners. There was no starting pistol start a simple “OK everybody make your way down stairs and run”. Over all very friendly and non competitive. A great experience all in all. Oh and after 10 runs you get a free wicking shirt (not the cheap crap, a real quality shirt) wearing the shirt gives you discounts at the Boulder Running Co. as well as Bristol Brewery. So stop making excuses and get out there! Juice Box and Mtnmama are going this next Tuesday you should too!

Good stuff over here! Love the pic at the top of this page!

If you like Quinn’s you should try hashing. It’s cheaper, the trails are better, and we drink those Quinn’s wankers under the table.

Sweet any suggestions on a good group of hashers in the area?

There are two kennels here in Colorado Springs, the Colorado Kimchi H3 and the Pikes Peak H3. They hash on opposite Saturdays, so every Saturday you can hash in the area. In general, the Kimchi hash drinks more and the Pikes Peak hash runs more, though it depends on the hare. For more info on Colorado hashing go to http://www.harrier.net.
