Free the Gnomes

Gnome Heading EastDear Yeti,

By the time you read this, I will be gone. I would like to believe that you noticed, but deep down I know you didn’t. The thought of you going about your daily routine, overlooking my disappearance, only reaffirms why I must go. [Read more →]

Wrecked

First ride on my motorcycle this year and some asshat hit me and took off!!! I didn’t get the chance to see his plates all I remember was a red sports car. Then two other cars passed me as I was laying on the road!!! Eventually I got my bearings and I was able to pick the bike up bend the rear brake pedal back in place and sorta fix the mirror that was left and I rode it to the in-laws farm.

I reported it to the cops but they said it was a non investigated incident because I couldn’t really ID the car if I saw it again. I guess that makes sense. Mtnmama finally was able to convince me to go to hospital last night and unfortunately I have a hairline fracture on the right side of my pelvis. A pretty severely pulled hamstring and groin on my right leg, nasty jammed pinky on my left hand and trashed left shoulder. So now you all know my weaknesses but remember I am part ninja and I do have one other pinky…and thats all I need to defend myself! Ha.

On the upside I get to pimp a cane for a bit. Mtnmama said she will keep my beer supply and outdoor mag supply up!

That enough for now. Remember check your mirrors and share the road.

Yeti w/cane

update: just got a call from the hospital and apparently my left pinky is actually broken. Sweet!!

April 6, 1933 New Beer’s Eve

April 7, 1933 End of Prohibition

For those in the know you have more than likely cracked your first beer of the day in celebration of the end of prohibition. Today marks the day when you could no longer be arrested for enjoying one of the finer things in life. Sure there are quite a few more finer things that we would enjoy not being persecuted for but hey you have to start somewhere.

Fourteen almost unbearable dry years had passed since prohibition was enacted and this gave all beer drinkers a reason to rejoice. Hail to the beer. I myself will head down to the Gables for a few pints in celebration, come one come all drinks on me!!!

That last line is a partial lie I will be at the Gables, however I will NOT be buying pints, you freeloading boozehounds (Juicebox, Levi).

Trip to the beer buffet

There are those times when a beer is what you need, whether it be at your local bar or on the couch, in the hills or just out there. The problem that I have had in the past is the lack of variety. Some beer snobs will drink their brew religiously and mock those that drink around, hell I have a friend that thinks of his beer as a relationship, if he drinks another he feels he is being unfaithful.

The problem is he is blinded by Budweiser.

Well here in Woodland Park, Colorado we have a great service being provided. A genuine Beer Buffet!!!! Here’s the deal, go in pick up a six pack container and fill it up with what ever beer they have and they have a TON of microbrews. I haven’t counted yet but when I go up there tonight I will do my best. Here is the address and number to the best beer store in the front range!

I headed down there the other day and scored this six pack which contained Franziskaner Hefeweizen, Guinness, Deschutes Buzzsaw Brown, Left Hand Deep Cover Brown, Dog Fish Head IPA, Il Vicino Wet Mountain IPA, and Flying Dog Snake Dog IPA.

The DogFish Head was seperate due to the cost but it was worth it. Mmmm good times!!

First ride of the year

It always feels good to get together with good friends load up the rig and hit the trail head. Today I got out on the bike for the first time this year!! It has been way to long, but I felt the bond returning. For those of you that ride you most assuredly know what I mean by a “bond”. There is some seemingly indescribable feeling when my mind body and bike flow over the singletrack as one. It is magical. Everything is dialed in and riding becomes effortless.p4060046.JPG

My fellow booze hounds and I headed down to Red Rock Canyon Open Space this morning and blasted through some great singletrack. The trails were dry and fast, however there were quite a few others utilizing the trails so we kept the speed under control. The weather was about a nice as you could ask for, slightly chilly during warm up but perfect once the muscles were cranking.

If you have never ridden Red Rock Canyon Open Space you are missing one of the great single track expressways in the Colorado Springs area. The nice thing about these rides is that you can expand them by linking into the Intemann trails or just spin around the park itself. There is also a trials area that the park has been developing and it promises some good technical experience for those yearning for ladders or bridges hell there is even a teeter totter!

For local guides or to get your bike tuned and ready for the trails this year check out the local shredders at CSWest bike shop.
