Drilling Near National Parks

A sign of the times, I found this article in the NY Times recently and was blown away by the fact that several tracts of land near the borders of national parks will soon be open for drilling.

I guess this really shouldn’t surprise me given the Bush administrations track record, but this is quite a blow. Apparently the guardians of our national parks, The National Park Service was unaware of the action!

Unfortunately if the sales go through as planned on December 19th, the new administration will be powerless to reverse the decision upon inauguration in January.
