Up a Mountain / Down a Beer

Wheels Of Change

I want to give an official welcome and woohoo!! to a group of selfless souls that have found a way to make a difference in our local community.

The Wheels Of Change Bike Program is a non profit organization that is dedicated to helping bikes find families and help families find a more sustainable way of transportation.

WOC was started just a few months ago with the rather simple purpose of:

  1. Increase awareness of environmental and social problems that face our culture.
  2. To provide knowledge of practical, simple solutions to these problems.
  3. To encourage people in their day-to-day effort to change the world.

WOC attains bikes through generous donations and then fixes them up and donates them to “folks who want to ride for transportation but cannot afford or justify the cost of a reliable bicycle!”

This is exactly the type of mentality that we should all be embracing both as a means to help those in need but also as a means to impact our environment in a meaningful way. With the awareness WOC is bringing to the front range by way of their program we should start to see positive change in everyone’s attitude towards cyclists.

Think of the benefits that this program could lead to: A healthier community environmentally as well as physically and mentally. A greater awareness of cyclists which could lead the way to more bike paths and eventually turning our beloved towns into a more cyclist friendly area.

If you would like to learn more about this great organization please check out the site at Wheels Of Change Bike Program, or their main page at WheelsOfChange.net.

Remember, if you have some old bikes lying around or know of some one that does please contact WOC to donate them so others have the chance to learn the simple environmentally conscious joy of riding a bike!

Donations are not limited to bikes alone, cash is always welcome to help this great awareness take hold!

DONATE TO THIS GREAT CAUSE NOW!!

This is great!
I remember you had mentioned earlier in the year that this would be a great program to get going in Colorado Springs…
I wasn’t sure so it would happen there, so I moved up to Fort Collins and joined FCBikeCoop.org here and the FC Bike Library.
These guys are really doing some great things.. keeping bikes on the road and out of the landfills. Check them out sometime!
Glad to hear there are people in CS trying to do somethings similar.
