I Am Going To Start Training…Tomorrow
True story I swear!! For those of you that have been following this blog for a while you more than likely remember the post about Procrastination. No doubt if you read it you got a little smile on your face and thought deep down inside, “hell, I’ve said that before”. Well now, as I get older my body is revolting, between the surgeries I’ve had and the injuries I should have had surgery on I am starting to creak like an ancient rocking chair.
The creaking is not really what bothers me, it is the pain and constant battle to balance that have really thrown me off. I still enjoy all of the activities I’ve participated in over the years. However lately it seems like I am slipping into stagnation.
So I need to snap out of it! Wake my inner self and start living. I got this quote sent to me today and it really sunk in.
“Exercise is done against one’s wishes and maintained only because the alternative is worse.”
-George Sheenan
And yes I fear the alternative.
So now I am going to open myself up to the cheers of support and the harassment in failure. I am going to set up a log on the side of this page and keep a log as to the activities I do. I am hoping that you will keep track so as to motivate me. I realize that given some of the friends I have this will undoubtedly come back to bite me in the ass, but I think this is the motivation I need.
I want to make perfectly clear I have NO ATHLETIC GOAL!!! I am not trying to do anything in particular, I simply am going to get in better physical and mental shape.
My plan is to:
- Stretch, I never ever ever do!
- Drink water, yep I maybe drink 32oz a week!! I rarely drink anything aside from the occasional beer.
- Run more.
- Utilize the things I have available to me to cross-train, I live in mountains and have no gym near by.
Before I end this I want to assure you that I am not overweight or out of shape. I am however not tuned. I need more flexibility and core strength. The simple goal of this is for me to make a commitment and better my self, plain and simple.
But first I need a nap…

It’s easier if you pick a goal. Pikes Peak Ascent?
