Doing my part
Volunteering. That’s right we all must do our part to help society out, whether it be picking up garbage, helping a little old lady cross the street or volunteering for a Craft Lagerfest! We are proud to join the ranks of voluntary laborers across the globe sacrificing time and skill to better not only myself but also to help those in need. It just so happens that we am helping like minded folks, you know craft brew drinkers, lushes like us!!! Come one come all.
Another quick note, the contact for this festival is Jason Yester who along with Todd Walton will soon be opening Trinity Brewing which will more than likely be one of the best brew pubs the Front Range has to offer!!!

One tough lady!!
This lady was out hiking on her property and was mauled by a bear. More than likely a result of the loss of habitat in the California mountains due to the recent fires.
She had two big dogs with her and was still mauled pretty good, kind of makes you think about the balance between man and nature. She was able to get away from the bear and drive herself to find help!
If nature ever got really really pissed, humans, with our soft skin, lack of sharp pointy teeth or claws we really wouldn’t stand a chance…unless we pave the world. Wait a minute, maybe that is why the wally worlds and super mega churches are so popular. They take up an insane amount of land and pave what ever they can. That explains it! Come on folks it is o.k., they are protecting us from all of the animals that want to eat us. Now why didn’t I realize that earlier!!!!
(for those of you that can not figure it out…JuiceBox, that was pure sarcasm)
However if this bear ever comes for my stash there will be a war and I WILL win, never get between a Yeti and his beer!!
The bear picture was not one of the bears mentioned in either article but does show how bears are doing their best to blend in and assimilate into human society.

logistics
Stonewall Century: 16 August 100 miles of painful road biking a lot of climbing!!
MuddyBuddy: 17 August 6 mile run/mountain bike covered in mud making a b-line for the beer garden!
This is looking very promising for team UpaDowna.

“I pity the fool”
That’s right, get on the good foot and do the bad thing!! UTM and I are registered in this year’s Muddy Buddy race in Boulder, CO!!
The following was stolen without permission from Burntcrisp
“Team UpaDowna, consisting of Yeti and myself, has thrown their collective hat in the ring for this year’s Muddy Buddy in Boulder. We have intended on doing this for a few years but have never been able to for various reasons. We are locked in this time around though because we coughed up the obnoxious $140 entry fee (plus some administrative charges and a mandatory $7 parking fee, no point in taking the bus I guess). I won’t complain about the cost too much in advance. Heck, I may have $200 worth of fun. But if I don’t, and my goody bag disappoints me, then I’ll just drink my weight in free beer.”
Whoo Hooo!!! While not the most glamorus or most cost effective event out there it will be a great time and this is the first installment of many for Team UpaDowna.
Good things are on the horizon.

PBR go ’round
Juice Box had a gathering for a buddies birthday last night and we figured he would appreciate a musical light up christmas carousel for his birthday ( since we just found it in our attic and have no clue why we still had this thing) as well as a 12 pack of PBR
. Turns out the carousel and the PBR went well together.
Anyone who has enjoyed a few PBR’s knows full well that when they are involved anything is possible, and even the stupidest gift becomes something amazing.

Polygamy and Beer
I think it is great when a society can laugh at its faults. Now I have nothing against Mormons, or jokes about their “seer” stones, or their laws (well I guess I have a slight problem with some of their laws). But I do love the fact some that are feeling the pressure of the “man” have found away to kick a little sand in his eye.
Wasatch Brewery has a great way of doing it and their Polygamy Porter is one of them. Sounds fake I know but I saw it on the shelf if a liquor store in Moab.
Real beer, 4% alcohol brewed by Wasatch in Utah. Love the sense of humor!!! Thought about giving it a shot but said screw it, I didn’t know where it had been.
